Canucks VS. Oilers

The Vancouver Canucks are hosting the Edmonton Oilers at GM Place tonight. The oilers have lost the most man games to injury's this season. News got even worse for edmonton on Friday when they announced that Ales Hemsky will miss the remainded of the season getting shoulder surgery. With the Vancouver Canucks now having close to a full line up they should come out of this game with a win. Lets hope that Daniel, Elder and Salo can get their first goals of the season, and maybe even Bieksa can score his first goal since the first game of the season. GO CANUCKS GO!

Mikka Kipprusoff

Calgary Flames netminded has said that if he is not starting goalie for Finland in the Olympics then he will not participate in Vancouver in February 2010. This is a little bit wierd because Mikka most likelt has the starting job for Finland when you compare him to the other goalies from Finland. Bit what does this show about Kipper? He is selfish and really does not care about the National team. Maybe he thinks he doesn't have the 1st spot so by saying this it will help him get the job. At least for Team Canada we have some healthy competition for spots players are acctually working to make the team, and players are not trying to squeeze there way on the team any way possible. On another note, on a recent Sportsnet.ca power poll the question was asked "Who do you think should be starting goalie for Team Canada? With options Roberto Luongo, Martin Brodeir, Mark Andre Fluery, and Ray Emery. 59% of the people voted for Roberto Luongo and Brodeir was in second with 29%. GO CANUCKS GO!

Disappointing Loss.

All the difference was in the Canucks Vs. Hawks was one garbage goal by Chicago. Anyone watching the game would have noticed that the Canucks outplayed the Hawks all game. Chicago can also be greatful that their goalie played outstanding. THis game was also the return of Canucks forward Daniel Sedin rejoining his Brother Henrik Sedin and Alex Burrows. Daniel missed 18 games and didn't have a big imact in this game. The Canucks now have a 4 day break before playing the L.A. Kings on PPV. GO CANUCKS GO!

Canucks VS. AVS

After our last game vs. the AVS when we handed them an 8-2 defeat and Henrik Sedin got his first career Hat-Trick. We played the AVS again last night and it was definatly Christian Erhoffs game. He almost had a Hat-Trick a couple time but he ended up with 2 goals and 1 assist. The Canucks were down 2-0 early in the game and managed to make it 2-1 in the Second period. But in the Third period we exploded with 4 goals and never looked back. The final score was 5-2. GO CANUCKS GO!

Where we stand

After a 3 game losing streak the Vancouver Canucks had a heck if a gane VS. The Avs winning by a score of 8-2. From the starting faceoff the Canucks didn't look back as they outworked the Avs for pretty much the whole game. Henrik Sedin did what no Canucks has done in the past few years which was score a hat trick...This also happened to be the first career hat-trick for Henrik Sedin. We know that the Avs will be looking for some kind of revenge when we play them next Friday, but lets hope we can keep up the momentum we have gained and come out with another win over the Avs. GO CANUCKS GO!

Canucks VS. Caps Shoot Out Markus Naslund Goal

GO CANUCKS GO! Subscribe to my YouTube, Rate Comment, and Favourite.

Two great starts, two bad finishes and one lucky win.

The Vancouver Canucks got off to two great starts VS. Detriot Red Wings and the Anahiem Ducks. But they ended up playing extremely poorly over the next 2 periods and earning themselves a couple of losses. Detriot won 5-4 in regulation and Anahiem won 7-2 in regulation. Tonight's game was dissapointing but right now when we have so many injuries the most we can hope for is to get as many points as possible until we get some players back. We played a very defensive minded game VS. L.A. Kings on Thursday. It worked out for the better as we kept the game 1-1 and won it in a shoot out with goals from Ryan Kesler and Mikael Samuelsson. On Sunday we are playing the suprisingly good Colorado Avalance. I will be attending the game so I hope we will have a great and exciting game which will turn in to 2 points for us. Letss hope we have next to no injuries anymore for the rest of the season and all our injured players will have a speady recovery. GO CANUCKS GO!

What A Game.

The first game in Chicago against the chicago blackhawks since we were eliminated in the Second Round of the playoffs last season. The Vancouver Canucks played really good. We are the first team ot get more shots against the blackhawks in a game. We out worked, hit and played them. The only thing really holding them in the game was their goalie making some great saves. Roberto Luongo also made some great saves as well. After Willie Mitchell Got a penalty he steped out of the box and laid out Toews with a bone-crushing clean hit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mTEzQ8vBps

Chicago ended up with a extra penalty for attacking Mitchell after the hit and this gave us alot of momentum. Shortly after Chicago goon Dustin Byfuglien high sticked Kevin Bieksa and earned himself a 4 minute penalty. Michael Grabner scored near the end of the final 2 minutes of the penatly to even the score. 3 minutes later Mikael Samuelsson stole the puck off a chicago player and snapped a soht into the back of the net. The Vancouver Canucks win 3-2. GO CANUCKS GO!

Hat Tricks.

A Vancouver Canuck has not got a a hat trick in a few years. I am just curious as to who you think will get our next Hat Trick. I would have guessed that it was going to be Daniel Sedin but now that he is injured I am going to go with Henrik Sedin. GO CANUCKS GO!

Game VS. The Oilers.

The Vancouver Canucks game out firing again tonight and it looked like it would be a long night for the Edmonton Oilers after Steve Bernier scored his second goal this season. But the Canucks let up a bit for the last couple minutes of the 1st period. Rick Rypien lay another beating on Zack Stortini. Late in the 3rd with the score tied 1-1 the oilers score on a weird luck bouncer of a goal. The Canucks then woke up angain and were pressuring for the last 7 minutes. There was a couple missed called by the refs. One when Alex Burrows dropped his stick and while attempting to pick it up Hemsky pushed it into the corner, a matter of seconds after that Henrik Sedin passed the puck right to where Burrows was standing. Had Burrows stick not been pushed away he might have had a great oppertunity to score. Henrik Sedin was slashed a minute or so later and he was in agony skating back to the bench. Lets hope that he doesn't have a broken finger or something. With the goaltender pulled Edmonton got a 2 on 1 which turned into a 1 on 0 but Alex Edler made an amazing poke check from behind to knock the puck away. Kyle Wellwood picked up the puck behind our goal with 9 seconds left and he began down the ice. With a set of great moves Kyle found himself in alone on the oilers goalie. Wellwood scored and the Canucks were celebrating as the ref waved the goal off. They went upstairs and it showed on the replay that the puck crossed the line just after the clock ran out of time. It is still good to see that we are getting close to 40 shots on goal most games. But our finishing needs to improve. Roberto Luongo looked alot better tonight, lets hope he can keep it up. Our powerplay was 0 for 5 and we are 0-4 on the road so far this season. We play on Wednesday in Chicago, this will be the first meeting of these 2 teams since the Canucks were eliminated in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. GO CANUCKS GO!

Roberto Luongo

After signing a 12 Year 63 Million dollar deal Roberto Luongo looked like mid-season form in the pre-season. Only to let us all down and begin his usual slow start in October. Well the upside is that we can look forward to his usual record setting shut out streak in November. The Canucks play the Minassota Wild tonight at GM Place, before heading off for a game in Edmonton.

More defensive depth

Vancouver Canucks have re-signed Nathan McIver.

Robeerto Luongo Rumours!

It is now being said that they have reached a deal that has yet to be signed because the minor details haven't been worked out. the rumours are that it could be 5, 10, or even 12 years long. We will see how this ends up, it is suppost to be signed and announced sometime b4 sept.13th.

More defenseman!

On the same day that MG acquired Christian Ehrhoff and Brad Lukowich, Mike Gillis announced that we signed Veteran Defenseman Mathieu Schnider to a 1 year deal.

Mike Gillis has made a very good trade!

MG has traded prospects Patrick White and defenseman Daniel Rahimi in exchange for Christian Ehrhoff and Brad Lukowich. I beleive this is an amazingly good trade for us. This should add experience and more offence to our defenseman.

Sergei Shirokov

Shirokov was selected 163rd overall in the sixth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the Vancouver Canucks. He was playing in Russia but now there is sumours going around that he might want to come back and play with The Vancouver Canucks.

Starting Line Up 2009-2010

So with the season fast approaching I thought it would be interesting to try and predict what the line up will be for the 2009-2010 season. I think that even with Mikael Samuelsson coming in to Vancouver, it is Alex Burrows job to lose playing with the Sedin Twins. But I also assume that Samuelsson can easily take Burrows job and Burrows and Kesler will be reunited, it all depends on what will happen in the pre-season training and games. So for now I am just going to assume that Burrows will hold his place.

Daniel Sedin Henrik Sedin Alex Burrows It could also look like this however
Daniel Sedin Henrik Sedin Mikael Samuelsson

The 2nd line will be either one of 2 options depending on who plays with the Sedin's on the first line. It will be either,

Pavol Demitra Ryan Kesler Mikael Samelsson or Pavol Demitra Ryan Kesler Alex Burrows

There is a bit of a discrepancy right now over what our 3rd line will be. We all know Cody Hodgson is looking to make it to the NHL and we have just signed Kyle Wellwood So we have 2 centers. I think that b4 the season starts we will be making a trade to open up room for Cody Hodgson. So this means that either Wellwood or Raymond won`t be a part of the starting team. Wellwood has proven he can play the wing so I think it will be Cody Hodgson center no matter what. The lines will be either...

Kyle Wellwood Cody Hodson Steve Bernier or Mason Raymond Cody Hodson Steve Bernier

I don`t see us trading Mason Raymond however because he is still young and very fast and has some potential so we would possibly use Kyle Wellwood in a trade for a 4th or 5th defenseman. But I can`t be to sure about that, we will see what happens.

The 4th line will most likely be Darcy Hordichuck Ryan Johnson Rick Rypien

This leaves Grabner out for at least another season with the Manitoba Moose and Janik Hansen as possiblaly a scratch or a trade possibility.

Our defensive Pairings will most likely be

Kevin Bieksa Willie Mitchell
Alexander Edler Sami Salo
Shane O'Brien Lawrence Nycholat

However I do not think that Lawrence Nycholat will be making out team because Gillis will either Sign or trade for another defenseman.

Our Goaltenders will Obviously be

Roberto Luongo
Andrew Raycroft

But I think that we will see Cory Schnider in goal alot more this season especially if Luongo has not signed a contract extenson yet.

Canucks Prospects

All the Canucks Prospects are in Vancouver this week to get tested, worked, and evaluated. This whole week they will be trying to show what they have got and will try ot get themselves an invite to come back at the end of the summer for Pre-Season training with the entire Canucks Roster.

Signings By MG

The Sedin Twins announced that they decided to stick with the Canucks about 30 mins b4 free agency started. They signed identical 5 year deals at 6.1 million a year. The Canucks made there first signing of free agency by picking up 3 players. Lawrence Nycholat, Nolan Baumgartner, and Matt Pope. The First big splash that GM made was by picking up former Detroit Red Wing player Mikael Samuelsson. He was a 3rd liner in Detroit but in Vancouver I think he could be a 1st or 2nd liner, depending on where he fits in best. We then also signed Shane O'Brien, Andrew Raycroft, and Aaron Rome. We now have 5.117 Million Cap Space left for next season. We need another defenseman to replace Mattias Ohlund. With 4 spots to fill as well, but some of these spots might be filled by the likes of Cody Hodgson or Mikael Grabner.

Heatley On Hold.

The Heatley Deal is on hold due to a couple factors, teams are unsure of who will have to pay the 4 million dollar fee to Heatley on July 1st. Plus Heatley who asked to be traded and has a No trade clause, would not wavie his no trade clause to go to Edmonton. He said however he will sleep on the idea and decide tomorrow again.

FREE AGENT FREENZY!

Tomorrow on TSN at 9 A.M. Pacific and 12 P.M. Atlantic time. Get ready for a whole lot of action!

Marian Hossa, Danny Heatley.

Marian Hossa has reportedly rejected a 10-Year contract worth 4 Million a year with Detroit. Apparently he wanted 6 Million a year. Danny Heatley has been asked to waive his no trade clause so he can be traded to the Edmonton Oilers, well if this rumour is true then there goes all Edmonton's young talent and a whole lot more of there Cap Room will be taken up.

J-BO Signs With Calgary.

J-BO Signs with Calgary for a 5 year deal at 6.6 Million a Year. This in my opinion is not a good desision for the Flames. They now have close to 13 Million dollars tied up in 2 defenseman and are losing camillarri and Possibaly Phanuef Or Jokien. Good Luck Next Season Calgary.

Mike Gillis Final attempt to Resign the Sedin's

Mike Gillis Flew to Sweden without notice on Monday. He got the same flight a JP Barry and went to the Sedin's homes to meet them face to face. They spent about 2 hours talking and then Mike Gillis Left them a deal and is letting them think about it. Rumours are out that it was around 5-Years, and there was a brief report out of a Swedish Newspaper saying that the Sedin's agreed with a 5-Year Contract for 6 Million a year, but this Rumour was quickly dismissed. Apperantly the contract offer is a 5-Year deal. It is currently 3:31 in Sweden so we can expect to hear a answer from the Sedin's either late tonight or early tomorrow morning. If the Sedin's don't sign then we will likely be paying a few million dollars more for 2 players to replace them, it just seems smart to sign the Sedin's and save money on them and then have more money to spend on other players. But because the Sedin's have waited this long they might as well Test Free Agency, but I hope they do not.

Roberto Luongo

Sources say that Roberto Luongo is pretty much locked up in Vancouver for another 7 or so years, reports say that the deal is done and they just need to announce it on July 1st which is the earlyest they can announce it. This could be very inviting for lots of free agents knowing that they will get to play with one of the best Goaltenders in the NHL and World. If we don't have the Sedins signed it will get interesting on July 1st.

Have the Sedins played there last games as Canucks?

Since the Sedins made the Canucks an offer nothing else has come from it. I believe the Sedins will stay here because we want them here and they want to be here. They will just strecth this out and try to get as much money as possible. I can't see MG filling there places with the free agents avalible this year. I think offering them 7 or 8 years at 5.25 million a year would be a great deal. But we will see who knows what Mike Gillis plan is. I will keep you updated.

Marian Gaborak

Marian Gaborak has suprizingly bought a house in West Van about a block from Pat Quinns house. This is weird because Gaborak does not become a free agent until July 1st and if Vancouver has already talked to him then we could get charged for tampering. But this looks very good for Vancouver. Getting a star who puts up lots of points on a defensive team. He could have an outbreak with us. We will see what happens on July 1st

Monday, June 22, 2009

Sedin's Make A Offer.

The Sedin's Made the Canucks an offer, they wanted identical 12 year deals for 63 Million dollars each. This would have been a great deal getting them for 5.25 Million a year. This however would have taken them to 40 years old and you can never tell how well a player will do in the latter part of there careers. Rumours are now that the Canucks are offering a 8 year deal for around 6 Million dollars a year, but the Sedins want 7 Million a year for a shorter contract. But i believe this is a good sign because it really shows the loyalty the Sedin's have to Vancouver and the organization and the fans. Lets hope we can lock them up b4 July 1st. GO CANUCKS GO!

Let the Transactions Begin.

With the Playoffs Now over, let the signings, trades, and transactions begin. This is set up to be a very busy off season for Vancouver, with about 10 players contracts ending. It will be Very interesting to see what happens.

Penguins Win!

Who would have thought way back in the end of November when we were playing the Penguins and we lost Roberto Luongo to a groin injury and we won the game that the Penguins would be the Stanley Cup Champions. Who would have thought when the fired there coach in February and were 5 points out of a playoff spot. Who would have thought that The coach they hired had never coached the NHL level and was only an assistant coach in the AHL b4. Who would have thought the Penguins being down 2-0 in the Stanley Cup Finals that they would come back and win 4 out of 5 in game 7? No one. This marks the team as a real team of Champions. They definatly deserved it and they outplayed the best team in the NHL over the past decade. What an exciting series, it was the most exciting Finals in a long time. Congratulations to the Penguins and especially Matt Cooke (Former Canuck) and Kris LeTang (Luc Bourdon's Best Friend), Kris said that he was playing every game for Luc and He and Luc now get to share a Cup together like they always dreamed they would. Congrats.

Off-Season

Sorry I have not posted in a few weeks, I was extremely bust with school and watching playoffs. Well we all know what happened this year, we came out really strong sweeped the Blues in 4 and had a 10 day break. Who would have thought this 10 day break wouldn't help us? I definatly didn't. We played great against chicago in game 1 but we handed game 2 to them. Game 3 was a great game, we showed we could come in there building and shut them down. But Game 4 was definatly the TSN Turning point of the series. AV desided to play defensivly, like the wild always play. We were playing outstanding until the last 10 minutes of the 3rd. We were winning 1-0 and then with 2 minutes left we made a costly error, no one picked up Martin Havlat! Anyone who knows hockey knows you can't let this guy skate around with lots of room. I thought Luongo should have made the save, but that's just how things went. Then chicago scored in OT. This evened up the series, but if we had have won the game it would have been 3-1 going back to Vancouver. All of Vancouver still believed that we could win the series. But we all no what happened after that. Anyways all in all I think we had a great season and it was very successful for MG. It will be interesting to see what he decides to do with all the Free Agents we have. I am looking forward to the draft, and some of our prospects to be on our team next season.

Canucks Take Game 1!

The Vancouver Canucks were able to take Game 1 at a Rowdy and Wired up GM Place. This was a very exciting game, but it was over officiated, in my opinion there was far to many calls made by the officials. But Vancouver worked very well and held the lead good. For the next game I would like to see the Canucks put a few more goals in the back of the net, just to put the game out of reach and to show the Blues who is in charge, make them start doubting themselves. GO CANUCKS GO!

Keys To A Good, Strong, Healthy, Playoff Run!

For the Vancouver Canucks to have a good, strong, healthy, playoff run there is many things that need to happen. One main thing is Luck, every team that wins a Stanley Cup will tell you they had some luck. Another key factor is healthiness, and injuries. Even one injury can mess a team up significantly, for example when Sami Salo was injured earlier in the season, this effected us considerably. As well as Luongo getting injured, but preferably no injuries through out our playoff run would help out a lot. Luongo has to be at the top of his game, every game. We can't have any of those weak goals going in that suck the energy and momentum away from us. Our defense has to play tight, we can't be letting in 4 or 5 goals in games, because this is very tough to win when your letting in that amount of goals. Our Defense should move the puck quick and if they are in trouble just get it out of the zone, we can't risk those turnovers in our own end. Our defense should also sit back and only go full out on offense when there is a rush or on the power play, but forwards need to notice this and be ready to come back and cover the pinching defenceman in case he gets caught up ice. Our forwards need to do exactly what we are doing, pressure lots move the puck fast, cycle it, anything we can do to keep a step ahead of the other team. Scoring of coarse is a must, we need to get at least 1 goal a game, but preferably 3 or 4 a game. Every line and every player needs to chip in on the scoring and points getting. If that mean Luongo getting a few assists or goals then so be it, but every point helps. Physical and toughness, we can not be outworked or hit, we need to let the opposing team know that we are there and that they are not going to go touching a puck with out getting hit. We must out work and out play the other team. If we can manage to do all these I am confident that the Vancouver Canucks can make it past the second round for sure and hopefully to the Finals! GO CANUCKS GO!

What Seperates Vancouver Canucks Fans From Any Other Fans?

What is the difference between Vancouver Canucks fans and any other fans in the NHL? Well this is what I think about it. I beleive the Vancouver Canucks Fans are one of the greatest fans in the NHL. For example, in the 1982 run to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Canucks are remembered for losing to the NY Islanders. But earlier in the playoffs Vancouver was playing the Chicago Blackhawks when Vancouver coach Roger Neilson, fed up with the performance of the officials in the game, placed a white towel on the end of a hockey stick and held it up in mock of Surrender (white flag). The Canucks players sitting on the bench followed suit, placing towels on the ends of their sticks until the bench resembled a laundry line. The Canucks lost that game 4–1, Neilson's actions began quite the trend as, when the teams returned to Vancouver for the next game, many fans brought white towels to the game and began waving them above their heads. Referred to as Towel Power, this sparked the Canucks to win the next three games and the series. This was the first time in any sport that this was created. Now we know that in almost every sport they use towels in the playoffs to try to pump their team up. The Vancouver Canucks fans have also invented a similar thing. The famous chanting of "LLLLLOOOOOOUUUUUUU" Whenever goaltender Roberto Luongo makes a save. Vancouver Canucks fans are everywhere. On Vancouver's recent road trip, everytime Luongo made a save, there was the "LLLLLOOOOOOUUUUUUU" coming down from the crowd. In the playoffs when Vancouver wins a game if you drive down the main streets in North Van, Vancouver, Surrey, and many more cities, you will see Canucks fans everywhere, cheering, chanting, singing, in cars honking horns, Carrying flags, wearing jerseys. After games when taking public transportation home, the fans will chant "GO CANUCKS GO". There was a great moment in the playoffs a couple years ago which started another trend in Vancouver. The Vancouver Canucks were playing the Detroit Red Wings in the first round. Detriots goaltenders name is Chis Osgood. Well about half way through the 3rd game with Vancouver in the lead, the Canuck faithful in GM Place started chanting "Wasgood" in replacement of Chris Osgood's last name. Just think about how hard it was for him to play the rest of that game, with the crowd all over him. Things like this help the Canucks out so much. Not to mention that GM Place has been sold out every single game for about 5 or 6 years now (Not sure the exact time line, but it is over 5 years.) The Vancouver Canucks Organization recognized the Vancouver Canucks Fans this season by putting up a banner in Canucks colours with the words 7th Canucks on it. This basically means, that the Vancouver Canucks have 6 players on the ice at all times, but it at GM Place they have a 7th with them, which is the crowd, and this helps them alot. At the Britney Spears concert when she decided to walk of the stage for about 40 mins, well what did the crowd do for a while? They did the wave and Chanted, "GO CANUCKS GO!" Lets help bring our Vancouver Canucks through the playoffs this year! Go nuts! GO CANUCKS GO! I would be interested to hear any other stories you have to share with me! Remember, We Are All Canucks! Go Canucks Go!

Canucks At The End Of The Season.

The Vancouver Canucks have won the NorthWest Division and came in 3rd place in the Western Conferance. They will be playing the st loius blues in the first round of the playoffs. The First game is on Wednesday at 7P.M. At GM Place. GO CANUCKS GO!

Canucks Suffer Yet another tough loss.

Taylor Pyatt's Fiance passed away yesterday after she was involved in a car accident in Jamaica. This is the 3rd loss the Canucks have had in the past year. First Gary Lupul, then Luc Bourdon, and now Carly Bragnalo (Taylor Pyatt's Fiance). This is probably a very tough time for him and his family and her family. They were planning on getting married this summer. Taylor Pyatt is going back to where they both grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario. He will be gone for as long as he needs to be said AV. The Vancouver Canucks all had a sad felling today. This is a very tragic thing to happen and lets hope Taylor Pyatt all the best. Take as long as you need Pyatt. I would like to see the Vancouver Canucks dedicate a huge win to everyone who was affected by this tragedy. GO CANUCKS GO!

With That Win

With That win in Overtime that Vancouver Canucks pulled even with and passed the calgary flames for first place in the NorthWest division with 6 games remaining, the flames are slumping. At one point they were ahead of Vancouver by 15 points, but no Vancouver has taken over and is 1 point ahead of the flames. Now the question is will the Canucks be able to hold on to 1st place until the end of the regular season. I sure hope they do! GO CANUCKS GO!

WOW! What a game! What a win!

This could be one of the best most exciting games the Canucks have played this year. Well actually they are all exciting, but WOW! Both teams came into it knowing that it was a very important game. Vancouver took over only 4 mins in and they never looked back. The Canucks ended up winning 4-0 and they fought there way to the finish. What I found funny is that chicago's big fighters were trying to fight The Sedins and Burrows, I guess Darcy Hordachuck is just a little to much for the chicago tough guys. I think that Vancouver destroyed chicago overall, in the scoring, goaltending, faceoffs, fights. It is just a shame that Shane O' Brien didn't get away from the ref or Hordachuck wasn't on the ice to teach them a even bigger lesson. I enjoyed this game a lot tho. If this was our playoff match up, well it could get ugly fast! Vancouver must feel great after winning another playoff like game. A win like this will really bring a team together in my opinion. We can expect fireworks like this against any other team that's fighting for a playoff spot or when we play calgary. I think the game against calgary could ultimately determine who will win the NorthWest Division. GO CANUCKS GO!

Earth Day!

Tomorrow Is Earth Day! Everyone turn your lights off between 8:30-9:30 PM. Last year we reduced the energy over this hour by 2%! Lets beat that mark this year! Turn Everything off! Use Candles for one hour!

Big Win, Big Game On Sunday

With a Big Win On Friday Night on Vancouver Canucks Pay Per View the Vancouver Canucks pulled within 1 Point of the calgary flames, and with 8 games remaining and one against the flames it know looks alot better chance to catch them. With a huge game on Sunday for Vancouver against the chicago blackhawks, chicago is 2 points ahead of us with one game in hand but the game on Sunday could be a possible playoff match up in the first round, it can also be used as a measuring stick to see how we are comparing to a team similar to us. Either way we can probably expect this game to be a very tight phyisical game with no fights and alot of energy, I predict the game will end up being a 2-1 or 3-1 one game for whoever wins. I can not guess who will win but I would deffanitly like to see Vancouver Win! GO CANUCKS GO!

Roberto Luongo And Ryan Kesler, Will they sign an extention?

After Alex Burrows said that he is all about the Vancouver canucks and he is commited to play for Vancouver. Ryan Kesler came out and said the same thing, but the other day Ryan Keslers Agent said that Kesler will not take a pay cut to stay in Vancouver and that he wants full market price. Roberto Luongo on Saturday night after hours said that being the Captian of the Vancouver Canucks will not determine his desision on weather he stays in Vancouver or not. Here is the Article.

http://www.team1040.com/news/story/?id=1868

I hope that Both Luongo and Kesler deside to stay around for another 5-7 years. GO CANUCKS GO!

The Stretch Drive

Sorry I have not posted lately, I have just started school and I am very busy with it. The Canucks have been playing exremely well winning 11straight at home. They have been very dominant and have had scoring from all 4 lines. They have been playing like 1 very close team. Last nights game was a bit of a disappointing start to a 6 game road trip but nothing was going our way and the way I look at it I think that of is better to have noting going out way and be letting in that many goals in 1 game instead of over a period of lots of games. I think it was very smart of AV to pull Luongo, because first of all Luongo needs a message letting him no he needs to be better but also second of all it gives Luongo a little rest and it give LaBarberra some much needed ice time. I hope the Canucks will come out flying on Tuesday vs the dallas stars. With 11 games remaining in the season The Vancouver Canucks have only 4 home games left. We are currently in 4th place in the western conference, I believe it will take 5 wins in tjose remaining games to secure our spot in the playoffs but we are now 2 points behind Chicago and 3 behind Calgary if we can continue to play like we have in the past few weeks then I think we can catch and pass both of these teams. We play both of them in our remaining games and I think it will come down to if we beat both Chicago and Calgary. These games will be great tests for us because both games are away so it will prep us for the away games in the playoffs. Getting ahead of these 2 teams Chicago and Calgary can help us slot getting home ice advantage and possibsly and easyar oppenent in the first round. I am proudly wearing Canucks wear everywhere and everyday! GO CANUCKS GO!

No Moves On The Deadline.

GM Mike Gillis decided that there was no good and logical moves to make on the trade deadline. He did have the hottest team at the time. In the end I think he decided that he liked the way his team was playing, and they had shown that they can play some great hockey. Many media members cut him down for this and said he missed a huge opportunity considering we had some extra cap room. Well the Vancouver Canucks went into their game Saturday night as the hottest team in the NHL right now, but they were playing the best team in the NHL. Many said this could be used as a measuring stick to see how well the team is doing. Well the Canucks played an almost perfect game VS. the sharks winning 3-1. This was a very good win for the team. The Canucks 3 games this week are very important. We are playing the L.A. Kings, Anahiem Ducks, and the L.A. Kings once more. These teams are all close behind us still and right now it just seems like wins would be better. To make the gap larger and hopefully solidify a playoff spot for our team. But we can't take anything to lightly or we may end up with a couple losses, and that would be hard to swallow. GO CANUCKS GO!

Lawernce Nycolat.

Lawrence Nycolat was place on waivers today. If no other team picks him up in the next 24 hours then he will report to Manitoba.

Here Is My Opinion.

With 21 games left the Vancouver Canucks sit in 5th place in the West with 70 points. The chances of us catching calgary in the Nowrthwest division are slim, It would have to come with about 18 wins in our last 21 games and have calgary go on a bit of a slide. However I believe that 90 points gets you a playoff spot. That would mean we would need at least 10 wins in the remaining 21 games. I think the Vancouver Canucks will get 15 wins in the last 21 games. Thats saying that they continue to play like they are right now. One thing to take into consideration though, is that all our games are now against Western Conferance teams. The Western Conferance is so tight right now that almost every team will be pushing for wins to make the playoffs. The Canucks cannot go into another 8 game losing streak. Even a 5 game losing streak could cause us to miss the playoffs. We don't want to miss the playoffs by 1 point like we did last year. It would be nice to have 5 or 10 games left and have a playoffs spot clinched. Then we could rest some players and get prepared for the playoffs. GO CANUCKS GO!

Guess Whose Back!?

On the day when Ossi Vaananen made his debut in Canucks practice, Rick Rypien made his return. He has been cleared to skate. He made his first appearance since a sports hernia injury sidelined him back in late October forcing him to miss 53 straight games. The scrappy forward skated with assistant coach Darryl Williams prior to practice and issued the following statement to the media:

"I would like to thank the Canucks organization and my teammates for their tremendous support during this challenging time. Everyone has been so supportive and I can't thank them enough for everything. I would also like to thank the media and the Canucks fans for their respect they have shown me during my time away. I am happy to be back practicing with my teammates and would ask that thus matter remain private at this time. I will speak to the media at an appropriate time in the future. Thank you."

AV says that Rypien will skate by himself for 4 or 5 days and then return to playing with the players. There is no time line for his return, they will take it one day at a time and he will play when he is ready.

Ossi Vaananen

The Vancouver Canucks picked up Ossi Vaananen off waivers from Philadelphia early Saturday morning. He is a 28 year old defence man. This is a very good pick up, getting him for half price. We know have 6 solid defense man, plus 4 or 5 good back ups in case of injury. If the Vancouver Canucks go deep into the playoffs this will help a lot because we can put in these trustworthy defense man to have some fresh legs out there. Vaananen skated for the first time this morning in practice.

Ohlund Ready To Test The Free Agency Market?

This article came up on TSN.com today. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=268813

NHL Trade News.

There was 2 trades today in the NHL. The Montreal Canadiens were at it again trading Steve Begin to Stars for Doug Janik. Steve Begin was i healthy scratch for the last 5 games. The Pittsburgh Penguins have cleared up a bit of their logjam along their blueline as they have traded Ryan Whitney to the Anaheim Ducks for Chris Kunitz and Eric Tangradi.

With The return of Hordachuck.

With The return of Hordachuck Alexandre Bolduc got sent back down to the Moose as well.

Canucks Recent News.

Darcy Horachuck will be back in the mix Friday night VS. The Tampa Bay Lightning. He was out of the line up for the past 2 games because him and his wife were delivering their first baby. Pavol Demitra was not expected to play on friday so the 21 year old Austrian forward Michael Grabner was called up from the Manitoba Moose. He practiced with the Canucks this morning and then got sent back down to the Moose after Demitra said he will play Friday night.

I would be interested to hear any other stories you have to share with me! Remember, We Are All Canucks! Go Canucks Go!

What Will The Canucks Do?

I have my ideas what the Vancouver Canucks will do b4 the trade deadline, but i am interested to hear what you have to say about what you believe will happen b4 the March 3rd Deadline.

Luc Bourdon Foundation

The Luc Bourdon Foundation was formed after the tragic death of Luc Bourdon in 2008. The Foundation announced today that they have earned 115,000 Dollars. The money goes towards kids to get them to there dreams.

Vancouver Canucks Did Almost Everything Right.

The Vancouver Canucks did almost everything right in there game VS. Montreal. There one problem was scoring, but this also come off and amazing game by Halak. The Vancouver Canucks dominated most of the game and out shot the Canadiens 34-17. The Vancouver Canucks were even there physically, not backing down from anyone. There was also some questionable officiating through out this game. The Canucks play next on Friday VS. Tampa Bay Lightning.

Can the Canucks Make It 5 Straight?

The Vancouver Canucks will be looking to make it 5 straight wins on Tuesday Vs the montreal canadeins. This game marks the return of Roberto Luongo to Montreal. Two years when Vancouver Canucks played in Montreal Roberto Luongo got hit in the neck the day b4 in practice with a puck. He spent the night in hospital and was not allowed to lay down flat because of fear of swelling. He got very little sleep but then he told the coaching staff that he wanted to play so he played in that game and got a shut out. I think if The Canucks score first and stay out of the box, then we should be able to wrap up this road trip with a nice sweep. Let hope we can pull it off! GO CANUCKS GO!

New York Rangers Fire Head Coach

The struggling New York Rangers have fired head coach Tom Renney with 21 games left in the NHL season. This comes after losing 10 games in the last 12. His replacement is suppose to be John Tortorella. This brings up the topic of Sean Avery. Tortorella who was working for TSN has a history of not liking Sean Avery. So Avery's chance may have dried up for now.

Story Book ending for Mats Sundin And His Vancouver Canucks.

When the Vancouver Canucks arrived in Toronto all the talk was about Mats Sundin. His return to the ACC in a Vancouver Canucks Jersey. Would the fans boo him? Or would they give him a standing O? Mats Sundin line started the game and when he touched the puck there was some random booing. But during the first T.V. Comercial they played a video tribute for him. The crowd stood up and clapped and cheered, this brought tears to Mats Sundin's eyes. Then as the game went on the toronto fans booed Mats Sundin when he touched the puck as a Vancouver Canuck. The game was not very good and toronto was winning with about 5 mins left. I found myself wondering, "Are we really going to lose to the toronto maple leafs?" But with in a minute Burrows pulled Vancouver even with an amazing deflection. The game went to OT and came down the the last shooter, Mats Sundin. The crowd was on its feet and cheering, Sundin came in and calmly put it top self on his back hand. The Vancouver Canucks team rushed to congratulate him. It was a storybook ending to the game. Vancouver got the 2 points which made it all that better. GO CANUCKS GO!

Huge Win!

It may not seem like much but tonight's win over the flames is a huge one. I would have liked them to win b4 OT but I will defiantly take this win. With the win, Vancouver Canucks pull within 8 points of the flames. I also think that this will bring calgary back down to earth. It will remind them that they aren't much better than Vancouver. Hopefully it will result in some more losses for their team. This win was a great team effort by the Canucks.

Habs Make a Move

After only winning 3 games in the last 13, The Montreal Canadiens acquired Mathieu Schneider as well as a conditional draft pick from the Thrashers at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, in return for a second-round pick at the 2009 draft (Anaheim’s pick previously acquired by the Canadiens from Washington) and a Canadiens third-round pick at the 2010 draft.

Salo's Absent.

Sami Salo was not at practice this morning. AV said he has a bit of a groin problem and they hope the rest will be enough for him to play tomorrow. Lawernce Nycolat was playing in Salo's position.

Canucks Play.

The Vancouver Canucks have been playing very good as of late. But there next game against the Calgary Flames in my view is a huge game. Last time these 2 played a home and home and Calgary won both. That marked the beginning of Vancouver's downturn and Calgarys upturn. Not only will this game be very important. It can be used as a bit of a measuring stick. To see just how well the Canucks compare to the Flames. I think this game is a must win for the Canucks. A good 6-0 win would feel good. Just like the Canucks started of this season, beating the Flames 6-0.

What is really wrong with Rick Rypien?

Rick Rypien has been out since October after having sports hernia surgery. I was always looking forward to him coming back, he has a lot of energy. Anyways he should have been coming back soon, and that what i thought until i found this article.

http://www2.canada.com/theprovince/news/sports/story.html?id=e2379015-5fe3-4a72-b7dc-6b61a7d5d3a4

It does not say a lot but apparently Rick has taken a leave from the team for personal issues.

Can They make it 5 in a Row?

It will be a tough game friday night VS. the Stars. After the Canucks game tonight, they hurried off to catch their flight and won't arrive in Dallas until around 2 in the morning. Lets hope they have a good sleep and get a quick start on friday. This would be a huge win if they can pull it off, a real momentum push for the team.

Game Recap

The Vancouver Canucks made it 4 straight wins in a 4-3 Victory VS. Phoenix. They had a very slow start and the game was fairly boring to begin, but as the game went on it got better and better and better. Roberto Luongo is still struggling after letting in some more weak goals. He just does no seem on his regular pace. So this is now 4 times in a row the Canucks have come back from a 2 goal deficit in 2 games. It is good to see the work being put out there, and the come backs are working out. I think the main thing is we are getting shots from the point and getting goals or rebounds, this is working very well for us.

The Olympics Are A Little Bit Closer.

It is now only one year until The World is coming to Vancouver. The 2010 Olympics will be here before we know it. Time to get prepped and excited. GO CANUCKS GO! GO CANADA GO!

What a game!

That was a great game from my view, for the most part. The Vancouver Canucks managed to come back from two 2 goal leads and win the game 6-4. Roberto Luongo played somewhat misleading. For being one of the best goalies in the NHL and World he let in 3 pretty weak goals. 2 of these goals were from the point and the defense man cleared the lane in front of him. He could see it the whole way but couldn't manage to squeeze the puck. The third goal he made to original save and then let a huge rebound out right in the middle for a blues player to bang in. Sundin has lite it up with his new line mates Demitra and Kesler. Together they have piled in 24 points in 3 games. This line is on fire since it was introduced 3 games ago. There is not alot of bad to say about the team right now. But we need better more consistent goal tending and our penalty kill must improve. The Canucks will look to make their winning streak 4 games on thursday night in Phoenix.

Monday, February 9, 2009

Can They Make It 3 Straight?

The last time the Vancouver Canucks had a 3 game winning streak, well it was actually a 4 game winning streak from Nov.19/08-Nov.24/08. Canucks play tomorrow against the St.Louis Blues at 5:30P.M. The last time these two teams played St. Louis won 6-4 and this was the beginning of Vancouver's 8 game losing streak. The Canucks must be feeling better now after 2 big games and 2 wins. I predict a Canucks win 4-0 over the Blues.

Return of The "Russian Rocket"?

In a recent interview with a Russian website called Soviet Sport ex-Canuck toughguy Gino Odjick who is still great friends with Pavel Bure said that Bure is still in great shape and if a team gave him a contract that Bure would return to the NHL. He retired early in 2005 because of constant knee injuries. He is probably not the young Bure of the past, but if he returned, could he help the Canucks? In 12 NHL seasons Bure played 7 with the Canucks. The Vancouver Canucks drafted Pavel Bure 113th overall in the 6th round of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. Pavel Bure scored 779 points in 701 games in the NHL. I find it unlikely that the Canucks will sign Pavel Bure, but who knows anything is possible.

The UFA's

The Sedin's agent B.P. Barry was in town the last couple days, and the word is that the Sedin's are asking around 6 or 7 million dollars each, and that they want a longer contract. I think this makes the Sedin's a prime contender in getting traded. Because who knows what the salary cap will be in 2 years after all this economic stuff happening. Alex Burrows need to be signed by the trade deadline or he might be traded, but Burrows is worth 3 or 4 million now, and the Canucks won't give him that much. If Burrows does not get that amount of money then he will move on to somewhere who will pay him that much.

Canucks First Move.

At the beginning of the season Defenceman Nathan McIver got sent to Manitoba. He was claimed of waivers by the Ducks. Well Mike Gillis made a trade today with the Ducks. He traded Right Forward Mike Brown For Nathan McIver. Nathan McIver is going to report to Manitoba. Could this be the end of Shane O'Brien's career as a Vancouver Canuck? McIver was drafted 254th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. and Mike Brown was also drafted by the Canucks in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, in the 5th round, 159th overall.

Would You Keep Ohlund? Or The Sedins?

My ideal solution for this problem would be, keep all 3 of them. All 3 of them have been here since they were in their late teens and this is the only home they have away from Sweden. The only way i would see us keeping all 3 of them is if all 3 of them were happy taking pay cuts to stay here. Who knows they could maybe agree on this because they have been here their whole careers. But with the recent economic crisis who knows what the salary cap will be for next season. Who would you choose if you were Mike Gillis?

Vancouver's Unrestricted Free Agents coming up this season are:

Daniel Sedin ($3.575 million)
Henrik Sedin ($3.575 million)
Mattias Ohlund ($3.5 million)
Nolan Baumgartner, Jeff Cowan, Alexandre Burrows, Matt Pettinger, Taylor Pyatt, Curtis Sanford.

I wouls also say that it would be a necessity to resign Forward Alexandre Burrows.

Trade Rumours.

With the Trade Deadline fast approaching here is some of the latest trade rumors that I have heard. Michal Nylander of the Washington Capitals has been heard of possibly ending up with the Canucks. I think this will be unlikely because we have a fairly consistent set of forwards already. Apparently the Vancouver Canucks have shown interest in Nik Antropov of The Toronto Maple Leafs. I do not know how this would work out because Antropov has been having trouble scoring this year. But this speculation was made because he used to play on a line with Mats Sundin. Also some say Brian Gionta will be joining the Canucks, well this could help us. But what would we have to give up for him? Considering that Gionta is a UFA at the end of the season as well, we would likely only have him this season, unless he decided he liked it here and resigned with us.

Shane O'Brien wants out? Demetra Ready for Canes.

Shane O'Brien did not play in Saturday's loss to the Minnasota Wild. He was told today that the organization thinks he needs to fight more. When O'Brien was asked about this he was fairly sour. He says, "We have been behind in games a lot and when you are behind players don't want to fight you, when we are losing 3-0 why would i want to fight?" I don't think this is a big problem. We have plenty of players who can fight, Hordichuck, Brown, Davidson, O'Brien, even players like Bernier, Ohlund, Biekia, Pyatt, Burrows, and Kesler will step up and fight. I believe that the team is trying to light a fire anyway they can under players to get them going. Shane O'Brien says that he is eager to get into action again however on Tuesday VS. The Canes. On a good note, Pavol Demitra is set to make his return Tuesday night.

Good Signs

After a all out great effort by most of the team Saturday VS. the wild. The Vancouver Canucks still managed to lose in OT. This was really a heart breaker, The Vancouver Canucks deserved to win this game. There was a couple of questional calls by the refs, highlighted by horrible call in OT for hooking. After the Canucks played so hard and fought back into the game, to force it to OT, the refs literally handed the game away. At least we got a point out of it. We had 40 shots in the game. But here is a stat worth taking note of. Out of the 40 shots we took, 36 were blocked, saved, missed the net, or hit the post. We need to improve there! Taking lots of shots is good but not when there is a man or his stick in the way. We also need to improve by having some better goaltending. Roberto Luongo should have saved the first goal, but he also made some huge saves. Daniel Sedin had 8 shots himself, that is all good but he should have scored some with that amount of shots. Our give-a-ways are costly every time, I liked putting Mike Brown in on the 4th line, it made it complete, but he had a bad give-a-way, and so did Elder (as schedualed) and some other players. Our PK was better but our PP should have capitalized on the 5 minute major. Ryan Kesler had a great game, and if everyone played like he did we would have blown the wild out of GM Place.

The Vancouver Canucks Show They Have Some Life

In practice thursday morning more than a few Vancouver Canucks got heated. This comes in the middle of a 7 game losing streak. It all began when Willie Mitchell hit Mason Raymond. Suprisingly Raymond came after Mitchell in the corner and gave him a shove. This was not liked by Mitchell who then gave Raymond a punch to the head and then a stiff cross check. This was not liked by Shane O'Brien who came over and challenged Mitchell to fight, all this was then interupted by players and coaches. I beleive that this is good to see. It shows that our players are wanting to compete, they are wanting to win (who doesn't). It shows that they are frustrated as well but it is carrying over in to practice and they are all playing really hard to get out of this slump. Most the players did agree that this was good to see and what Captian Luongo said, "What happens in practice carry's on in the games." Luongo strives for this, he plays 100% in practices to make himself better and to carry the momentum on to the games. Shane O'Brien disagreed however saying that he thinks that hitting in practice does not matter, he thinks that the physical play needs to be better in the games only. I am interested to see if this will spark the Canucks on Saturday VS. the Wild.

Line Combonations

I think that AV should pick some lines and keep them that way for 10 games and see what happens and see what chemestry the players will get with each other. Heres what i think the lines should be begining on wednesday.

Left Wing Center Right Wing
Line 1: Daniel Sedin Henrik Sedin Taylor Pyatt
Line 2: Steve Bernier Mats Sundin Pavol Demitra
Line 3: Alexandre Burrows Ryan Kesler Kyle Wellwood
Line 4: Darcy Hordichuk Ryan Johnson Mike Brown

Healthy Scratches: Mason Raymond, Rick Rypien Janick Haansen
If injury's occur or this does not work out, i would juggle the top two lines and only line that would have a healthy scratch come in would be the 3rd line. Mason Raymond, Rick Rypien Janick Haansen, would be my order of apperance if they got back in the line up.

Left D Right D
Defensive Pairings: Mattias Ohlund Sami Salo
Willie Mitchell Kevin Bieksa
Shane O Brian Alex Edler

Healthy Scratches: Rob Davidson, Lawrence Nycolat
If injury's occur or this does not work out i would put Rob Davidson in b4 Lawrence Nycolat.

Vancouver's Goals for the remainder of the Season?

I would think that Vancouver's main goal would be to make the playoffs. But what will they need to do this? We will need to keep our scoring high, lots of goals will give us a better chance to win. The whole team needs to come together and play together. Defence should be our proirity, because in the recent losing streak the Canucks have seemed rather slow and unaware on the back end. Roberto Luongo as always we expect him to be fairly solid, a few more shut outs from him would be nice! I think that our dumping the puck in and chasing it does not work all the time and is quite predictable. We should mix it up alot more, dump the puck in and forecheck sometimes, carry the puck in sometimes. If we carry the puck in then we have posession of the puck and do not have to work hard to win it back.

I think the main think however is we need to play SIMPLE!

Pass the puck! Trust your teammates, don't try to do it all yourself,

Shoot! Nothing bad can happen when we shoot, gives us a chance to score, makes the goalie work, and tires him out.

Play Tough! Finish our checks, and play the puck to take a hit, To many times i see Edler not playing the puck becasue he sees a player coming so he braces himself for the hit instead of moving the puck.

Play as a Team! Move up and down the ice together as a unit, this will make is hard for other teams to break you down and easy for Vancouver to break down opposing teams plays.

Have Fun! Having fun out there will make our team play alot better, joking around after goals will settle everyone down and mold them closer together.

All Star Break

With the All Star Fun now finished, its time to get back to work. West lost the game 12-11 in a shoot out, this was quite and exciting game to watch. Looking at the task at hand for the Vancouver Canucks, well we have played 48 games. That leaves us with 34 games left in the season. Clearly the main goal is to make the playoffs. But it would be nice to be in a position where, with 10 games left we have already secured a position in the post-season. Mats Sundin will be with Vancouver for three weeks on Wednesday when they play the Nashville Predators. I think we can start to see Sundin playing alot better now, with no excuses for bad penalties and not having his feet moving. I would estamate that the cut off at the end of the season will be around 90 points. So Vancouver will have to get at least 90 points to make the playoffs in my opinion. I think and hope that they will be able to do this.

My Response to Richard.

Richard recently wrote a letter to The Province newspaper. This is his letter.

"My heart can't take it any more. I've been a Canucks fan for over 30 years. Every year we are fooled into believing this will be THE year or at least this year will be a better year.

"I fall for the hype every time, but after last night's game ... something died in me.

"I've never felt that disappointed by a loss in my life. I was so upset, in fact, that it carried over to my relationship with my wife. I snapped at her over the dumbest of things. She was an innocent bystander and not a hockey fan. That anger that was wrongly aimed at my wonderful wife was an anger so powerful I couldn't contain it. An anger expressed because of my emotional tie to a stupid sports team.

"I will never let that happen again.

"I proved to myself that watching, cheering and supporting the Canucks has finally come to an end. Period.

"The time I wasted watching the Canucks games I will now spend with my wife and daughter."

— Richard.

Here is my respose to Richard

I understand how Richard feels, but he is not a true dedicated fan. I feel horrible with what the Canucks are doing right now but i get over it and I am always looking forward for the next game and I cheer for them. I think Richard and all his followers are a bunch of wagon-hoppers who can't control their emotions or their life. These people combined with the media are who drove Markus Naslund out of town. Markus Naslund loved this city but he couldn't handle the pressure of angry, uneducated fans. "They would have never been happy with me unless i was getting the numbers I did in my best seasons." Is what Naslund said when deciding not to resign with the Canucks. What the Vancouver Canucks need right now is support, they need the fans to be behind them. They also need some more true fans, not the wagon-hoppers who are there when they are winning and not there when they are losing. These "fans" could determine if players want to stay in Vancouver or if future players want to come to Vancouver. Its time to determine if you are a real fan or not, if not then you should not be cheering them anyways. These wagon-hoppers will be cheering for the Canucks as soon as they start there winning ways again. Think of it this way Richard, if you were there for your wife and kid when things were good and happy but as soon as things got bad you were never around. Would your relationship last? You need to put effort into things to make them work. That's how life works. As fans we can put effort into showing support to Our Vancouver Canucks. It will make them more comfortable, secure, and will possibly make them play better. I would also like Canucks fans to BELIEVE. Last year Detroit had a big losing streak in the season and they weren't sure if they would make the playoffs. Well they made the playoffs and won the Stanley Cup. I am and will always be a Vancouver Canucks Fan!

Getting Better

The Vancouver Canucks played alot better in their last two games b4 the All-Star Break. I still am not to sure about the coaching of AV. But with the Canucks playing better i believe they will keep him around longer. This All-Star Break comes at a good time however, now the players get some time to rest and look at their task that will continue after the break. We all know how this Canucks team can play. I would love to see them return to their form earlyar in the season.

Hitting the Net

Hitting the Net seems to be a big problem with alot of our defenceman. Ohlund, Mitchell, and Salo don't have a problem with this but when our first defensive line on the powerplay is Bieka and Elder, well it would help to hit the net when we have a good oppertunity. There has been countless shots that have missed the net and even if we don't score it makes the goalie make a save and there is a chance of a rebound goal and there is also a chance of a save not being made by the goaltender. We all know that Bieka and Elder are good players and have got many points b4 so we need these players to hit the net more often to create more oppertunitys for chances and goals.

Kyle Wellwood

I don't no the exact stat but i no that most of Kyle Wellwood's Points have come with the Sedin's or on the powerplay. So i don't see the sense of Alain putting Kyle Wellwood on the 4th Line with Darcy Hordachuck and Ryan Johnson. Don't get me wrong Hordachuck and Johnson are both very good players, but they have different strengths, Hordachuck is a heavy weight fighter, and Johnson is a shot blocker and checker/hitter. This does not help out Wellwood because he is a scorer/playmaker. Now Alain is making Kyle Wellwood a healthy scratch. To me i think Wellwood would preform alot better on any of the other lines, the 4th Line so stay as a checking/fighting line. Then in tonights game Alain puts Kyle Wellwood in the shootout. Well first of all Kyle is not going to be very confident. Alain is giving him way to many mixed signals. What should be done with this problem?

With Luongo back the Canucks still suffer.

Luongo looked a little rusty in his first game back in 24 games. The Vancouver Canucks Captian and leader started out slow but began to look like his old self in the third period again. B4 the game Luongo said B4 the game, that he could not be a saviour for the team and that they all had to step up. He was clearly not a saviour letting in at least 2 bad goals. I was personaly at he game, which was a bad game and a bad investment, to buy the tickets and go to the game. Luongo defanitly looked like his old self in goal in the 3rd period making a couple huge saves. Highlighted by one highlight reel save on shane doan. However the Canucks look somewhat uncomfortible with playing lately, after recieveing alot of boos for there fans in their recent home games, they must be a bit on edge and uncomfortible. Alex Edler seems like he does not remember how to skate. As he tripped over everyline on the ice that came his way. Also i noticed that the Vancouver Canucks failed to gain the other teams zone, time after time after time they continued to dump the puck in and change lines. Phoenix however seemed to gain the zone and keep posession of the puck, Vancouver needs to do this more often. Vancouver also gave away to many pucks during this game. During the game VS. the san jose sharks. Vancouver had 38 givaways. Vancoubver has alot of improvments to make to make themselfs and comtender in the playoffs.

Luongo back, Standford out.

The long awaited return of Vancouver Canucks Captian and leader Roberto Luongo should be thursday night against the Phoenix Cyotes. I am attending this game myself so i am very excited and i hope the Canucks team can step up there play and make it a good one. With Luongo coming back Curtis Standford is the odd man out. He has been with the Canucks for 1 and a half seasons and he has done just about everything that you can ask of from a back up goalie. Unfortunatly however he is on waivers and if no one pickes him up he will report to Manitoba Moose. Vancouver has promised to try to get him to another NHL team tho. This is the sad and bad part of the buisness. The Vancouver Canucks lost a team mate and very good friend in the process. Jason LaBarberra will now be the back up and he is a bigger goaltender. Lets hope the Canucks can finish the season on a very good note.

Vancouver Canucks Play

The Vancouver Canucks have not been playing to well lately they look tired slow and not energized. After their 5th straight lose at home tongiht VS. the New Jersey Devils, Canucks fans have reason to be worryed. Preformances like this will not win us important playoff games. However after the first period Vancouver looked better and almost made a game out of it. Vancouver Canucks got owrked at practice on Monday with the coaches swearing and yelling trying to show the players that this kind of play is not acceptible. If you ask me i beleive the Canucks will be getting worked on Wednesday again after a slow start in the game. A good thing to look forward to is that Roberto Luong o is expected to start on Thurday againbst the Phoenix Cyotes. This is very good news because after those first 3 goals let in by Jason LaBarberra an Curtis Stanford, it shows that there is an incredible difference between a starting goalie and back up goalie. Look for Luongo to be a little bit rusty. B4 Luongo got injured the Vancouver Canucks were first in the NorthWest and now calgary has only a 5 point lead over Vancouver and Vancouver has a 4 point lead over every other team in the NorthWest. So lets hope the Vancouver Canucks will be able to make up ground and regain 1st place in the NorthWest.

Mats Sundin, Roberto Luongo, and Alex Edler

We can expect Mats Sundin to slowly pick up over the next 2 weeks. I think that within 2 weeks he will be in full game shape and lost his last couple pound and flying around like the Mats Sundin of old. We can most probably expect to see Roberto Luongo back by the end of this week which may bring a end to Curtis Sandford with the Vancouver Canucks. I still can not tell you what i think will happen with the back up desision however. Now Alex Edler had a great break out season last year and we all expected alot from him this season. But game after game he is disappionting us. He showed us his shot that broke the glass tonight but we don't see alot of that shot during the games, and this is not him main problem. His main problem is his play in the defensive end. Once again tonight he gave the puck away which led to a san jose goal. and this is at the point now where Alex Edler is costing us goals and points. Now I am not 100% sure about Edlers contract but i would assume it is a one way contract so we don't really have the option to send him to Manitoba because we might lose him. But maybe it take Alain Vighneut keeping him a healthy scratch for a few games for Edler to get the message.

Vancouvers play as of late.

Vancouvers play started against St Louis on friday. What should have been a cake walk turned in to a 10 goal rather boring and frustrating game to watch. Vancouver seemed like they thought they could win the game no matter what happened and they played that way. Lawernce Nycolat got the call to play in replacement of Rob Davidson which always suprizes me. Nycolat had a quiet game and managed to give the puck away several time and one give-a-way which he threw the puck up the center of the ice leading to a goal for St. Louis. Vancouver gave the puck away again and again and had trouble getting out of there own zone and gaining the offensive zone. I kept waiting and wondering when the Canucks would wake up, they didn't. After either a couple horrible calls by the refs or some stupid penalties Vancouver ended up losing 6-4 to the worst team in the West. Tonight against San Jose, Vancouver came out way stronger getting all the chances. Yet they still found themselfs down one to the best team in the NHL right now. However with less than a minute to play Mats Sundin got his long awaited first goal and point as a Canuck. This brought the crowd to their feet. As Alain Vighneut said before, "We have 3 weeks of pre-season training at the begining of the season and that is to get us in game shape. Well Mats has only been with us for about a week so we don't expect him to be in full game shape for another couple weeks." I agree with Vighneut because Sundin if you have not noticed is a very big man and i am sure there is some pound he has not got rid of yet. You can see it when he skates he looks slow almost drowzy. But we can slowly start expecting to get more and more good play from him. Anyways Vancouver played fairly good getting unlucky on a puck that seemed to stick to the goal line and a couple quick rebound shots by Sundin that where saved. And San Jose seemed to be nothing but lucky with one goal defleted in off a skate and one goal that sandford should have saved. Late in the thrid San Jose got another lucky bounce off a skate and then added some insurance and won 4-2.

Ryan Johnson

Ryan Johnson will be playing in tonights game VS. St Louis. After missing over 6 Weeks with a broken foot and broken hand requiring surgery. He still has pain and stiffnes in his hand but he says this is something he will have to learn to play through. Janick Hannsen got recalled and will now be playing his 3 game in 4 nights. Jason Jaffery got sent to Manitoba but is currently on waivers for the next 24 hours. If no team picks him up he will return to Manitoba. Lawernce Nycolat will be starting his first game in 5 in replacement for Rob Davidson.

Sundin's Debut With Vancouver

Mats Sundin played his first game as a Vancouver Canuck on wednesday against the oilers. He started out with very short shift between 15-30 seconds. He also looked fairly slow and not up to game speed yet. As the game went on Sundin played better tho and seemed to be moving a bit quicker. He had a few chances were he took a little to long to take shots and the puck got blocked. But we can not expect him to be completely ready and up to the game pace yet. He finished the game with 15 minutes of ice time and 24 shifts. I would think that the next game he will possibaly have 20 minutes of ice time but we don't want him runnign out of energy. In about 5 to 8 games we can expect to see and Sundin who will look more like his old self. Anouther big right winger stepped up for the Canucks however, Steve Bernier had an assist and 2 goal that were 12 seconds apart. Edmonton did well in shuting down our top 2 lines but the 3rd line stepped up in a big way earning 8 points in total between the 3 of them. Steve Bernier, Ryan Kesler, And Alex Burrows was the 3rd line. Jason LaBarbera got the start again with Curtis Sanford as back up. LaBarbera played very good and came out on top with the 4-2 victory, Which leads to the question. Once Roberto Luongo is back what will the Canucks staff deside to do with the 2 back up goalies. Curtis Standford and Jason LaBarbera have been excellent when coming into goal. I honestly do not no what will happen with these 2 and i can not make my mind up which one will stay up, because they are both excellent back ups.

Canucks Re-assign Janick Hansen

The Vancouver Canucks Re-assighed Janick Hansen on monday morning to the Manitoba Moose. Does this mean a possible debut for Mats Sundin on wednesday Vs. the oilers?

Canada Wins Gold Again!

The Canadian Jrs. won Gold again in Ottawa. This is the 5th year in a row that they have won and second in a row that they beat Sweden. The Vancouver Canucks Prospect Cody Hodgeson had an amazing tournament and was the leader in points. It is unfortunate that he was not reconized for this as John Tavares was considered the MVP. But this is a player that the Canucks can look forward to having in the future.

Everybody has their say about Mats Sundin

Watch Out For Alexander Semin

For those of you who missed this great fight by Alexander Semin, well here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6DjNKAAmPA
Now this is the player who said Crosby was not good at hockey, well crosby can fight and score and not to mention Crosby is ahead of Semin in points.

Sami Salo

I am sure Canucks fans are wondering what is wrong with Sami Salo, well when he is healthy he is a great help to our team. but if he is not healthy well...hes not worth the money in my opnion. I like Sami Salo alot but i am sure there is players we can get for the same amount that are not injured as much as he is. Sami is out 4 weeks with a Broken Rib.

December For The Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver ended december with a sloppy 7-10 record and that showed with them being 5 points behind the Northwest division leading Calgary Flames. Dec.17/2008 was a night in Cnaucks History. The Sweater of long time Canuck Trevor Linden was raised to the rafters and retired. In a one hour long celabration Linden was given gifts and "Thank You's" and memories were shown to remember all the great years he had given us. Vancouver won the game later that evening 4-2 over the oilers. Earliar in the day the employees gate at GM Place was renumbered to gate 16. With More good news for the Canucks and their fans coming the next day that they had signed Mats Sundin to a one year deal.
